Paper Moon Sites | Postcard Links

The moon symbolizes many things to different people. Paper moons in particular have had a special meaning to us. As a postcard motif, we think most symbolize whimsical scenes and cherished keepsakes from fun times. We have been intrigued by the various moon designs - some happy, some mean, with & without stars, etc. But most of all what has captivated our attention and spawned a portion of our postcard collection and spinoff 'moon' collection has been the people who sit upon the moon to have their portrait captured. We see couples, families, siblings, groups of friends and solo portraits . . . perhaps all wishing upon a star as they wait for their picture to be snapped.

As this section is developed, we hope to share some of our collection both from early 1900 cards and from a more recent Paper Moon Enterprise, the Plain Grain Studios collection from Northern Iowa of the 1970s. In addition, paper moon postcards have spawned interest in other Paper Moon sites and interpretations - you can find out about them under the Paper Moon Sites below.
